Podcasts são arquivos de áudio transmitidos via internet. Neles, exatamente como acontece nos blogs, os internautas falam sobre os mais variados assuntos: aulas, música, educação, receitas, etc.
O termo podcast surgiu da fusão das palavras Pod (Personal on Demand) e broadcast (transmissão via rádio). É possível encontrar bons podcasts destinados ao ensino de idiomas. Confira.
O podcast English as a Second Language oferece lições de inglês com temas como viagens, relacionamento, entretenimento, negócios, etc. Jeff McQuillan e Lucy Tse, que vivem em Los Angeles, discorrem sobre os mais diversos assuntos em um inglês bem claro.
No Voa Learning English, uma equipe de locutores americanos, utilizando expressões muito fáceis de entender, discorre em tom sereno e lento sobre temas históricos ou atuais. Também fazem comentários sobre filmes, músicas, bandas, biografias de personalidades, além de trazerem notícias sobre educação, saúde e ciência.
A cada semana, Peter Carter, cidadão inglês que mora em Birmingham, faz comentários de 5 ou 6 min. sobre acontecimentos rotineiros ou fatos incomuns de sua terra natal. As falas são claras e agradáveis. Muitas são ligadas a notas de vocabulário, gramática ou a testes.

Dogs must be carried on the escalator!
“ …When you arrive at your destination, you will probably step onto an escalator to carry you up to the surface. You will see signs saying “please stand on the right”. This is very important! It means “if you want to stand and let the escalator do the work, you must stand on the right hand side of the escalator. Then people who are in a hurry can walk or run up the left hand side of the escalator.” You may think that this makes no sense – these crazy British people drive on the left hand side of the road, but they want people to stand on the right hand side of the escalator? However, Londoners who are late for work get annoyed by tourists who stand on the left-hand side of escalators. So, don’t be a tourist, stand on the right like us natives!
Finally, you will probably see a sign which says “Dogs must be carried on the escalator.” This will finally convince you that the British are mad. […]
